Great job. Especially with no mic, CTA train sounds and bright projector. Just bought the audiobook

We are excited to showcase our amazing organization members, starting with our Managing Director, Riya Sankhe. Get to know Riya through our Q&A below — hear from her about what makes SC special, along with consulting-specific advice! What do you love most about your job in SC?“I love the process of brainstorming with the team and working together to push the club's boundaries. This year, we have grown our alumni engagement ten-fold, are working with 3 new companies on corporate development activities, have already organized multiple recruiting-focused workshops, and placed a renewed emphasis on mentorship within the organization. I love how flexible the role is and how the whole team comes together in realizing the vision.”What is your favorite part of the SC community?“I really like that we all come from such diverse backgrounds but are similarly passionate about going above and beyond for clients and the community. One thing about Stanford Consulting is that the whole team has a similar buy-in: everyone shows up for every event, everyone wants to pitch in when we start a new project, and everyone is always dreaming up such great ideas. Our range of backgrounds really helps us approach problems in different and unique ways: this year the members of our board alone encompass 7+ majors from political science to economics to computer science, come from 8 different countries, and have worked in over 15 industries!”What advice do you have for other students interested in consulting?“Look out for events with opportunities to meet consulting professionals or leaders. I have learned so much from just meeting people, and there are a multitude of free conferences and summits for those with interest.”

The Young Executives Organization (YEO) Conference is back and better than ever under a new name, CStore Momentum. Hosted by Yesway, CStore Momentum 2024 will take place at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas, from Sept. 18 – 20.Each year, this conference serves as a resource for young executives looking to learn about the industry through engaging information sessions, interactive workshops and networking events. This year, young executive attendees will get the chance to learn about a multitude of burning issues, spend time with industry peers and hear from distinguished c-store professionals.“As we designed the program content for our 2024 event, it was imperative that we deliver in three primary areas: No. 1: What does operational excellence look like for our event host, Yesway? No. 2: How do we expand actionable learning in key areas like loyalty, foodservice and private label? No. 3. How do we ensure attendees grow as leaders within our industry? I’m happy to say that our retailer content committee put their heads together, and I’d say they really delivered,” said Allison Dean, executive director, NAG Convenience.Learn more about the agenda here: https://lnkd.in/dXacE9Hd

📖The Kellogg’s Book of Facts 🔥 One of the ultimate archives finds in my time with WK Kellogg Co… Why?This gem contains a comprehensive outline of the entirety of the business from 1950 and a detailed history of the company up to that date. The goal of the book was to educate our employees in every facet of the business, impart in depth knowledge of every one of our products, and provide guidance on how to execute in market. This expertise would enable us to do a better job for the people we serve. It’s a masterpiece and by far the richest historical resource I’ve come across. I can’t wait to mine it for insights, inspiration, and ideas 💡 I will probably share some of the information as I learn more… but maybe not 😂

Thank you to everyone who joined us for today’s Engage Live meetup addressing How to Engage, Delight & Connect with Young Professionals! There were some great takeaways from our excellent panelists,Lindsey Randolph and Joshua Kozinski. Here are some of my favorite takeaways:✅ Give Young Professionals reasons to join - what are they looking for in their careers and lives and match their needs with what your association offers - whether it’s education, mentoring, access to knowledge and the wisdom of more seasoned members.✅ To get Young Professionals engaged, have your association leadership and staff be intentional about reaching out to them and inviting them to events, come to your annual conference, give them a buddy or mentor to show them around. Doing onboarding and overcommunicating, in the beginning, pays off and they get connected and start getting involved.✅ Create a variety of events to engage young professionals who are introverts and those who are extroverted.✅ Use a more casual and less formal style in speaking to them in your communications and messaging. Younger professionals have a more relaxed communication style. Are there any other takeaways you would like to add: Beth Roach, Adriana Alvarez, Maurice Norris, MPA, Darrin Scheid, CAE, Maude Surprenant Hanco*ck, CAE, Jamie Beatty, Shasta Foy, CAE or Hannah Simon?

It's great to be part of a local group of talented CMOs with a nice mix of full-time CMOs and a few fractional CMOs to learn from. Shout out to Shayne De la Force and Gaurav Bhatia for their leadership of the DC Chapter. We had a lively discussion about the realities of today's hiring market and the challenges from both sides. But I think the thing that resonated the most was Sue Keith's reminder to hiring managers that applicants are humans and they should be treated with respect and deserve a response. After all, the one/ones chosen will become employees and this is their first step in that journey. As a career coach (my other role), the stories I hear from candidates are mind-blowing.

I'm still buzzing from the opportunity to see Jude and Marcus speak 2 weeks ago. I left the event inspired about the work that we do and how to continue to push the conversations forward on how we treat and use data in our day to day work. As Dr. Marcus Collins challenged us..."We don't see the world as 'what' it is, we see the world as "WHO we are". Noodling on that will expand your horizons of how you approach the work that you do regardless of part of the 'organization' you are with. I'm left with these additional nuggets of wisdom from the talk from both Dr. Marcus Collins and Judith Carr-Rodriguez...1 - Consumption is a CULTURAL act.2 - Don't mistake information for intimacy.3 - Shakespeare was right - "All the world's a stage, and we are merely [SOCIAL] actors."4 - Stories of 'failure' generally result in stories of innovation.5 - Don't confuse kindness with weakness.6 - Good storytelling and creativity is 'messy' - it is likely clear at the beginning, messy in the middle and magical by the end. 7 - The messy middle is necessary! 8 - Sometimes the obvious isn't obvious until it's pointed out.#alwayslearning #4As

I help businesses recruit exceptional people across several sectors, but particularly in building products & industrials

We all know that our industry (and the economy in general) is ageing and lacking in diversity: in all its forms. Yes, it's "pale, male and stale". And hey, I'm technically in that group! Well, for 2 out of 3 at least. I'm a big believer in supporting new entrants and young professionals in our industry. I'm also a huge believer in promoting and encouraging diversity - in all its forms - wherever possible. I'm not going to solve this problem by myself, and it will take years. But if we don't start then we're only going to have bigger problems in the future. If we all take some responsibility then we'll start making baby steps. The Builders Merchants Federation Ltd under the excellent leadership of John Newcomb have partnered with Dianne Lucas FCIM and started a fantastic campaign to launch the Building Materials sector - a huge awareness campaign which will shine a spotlight on all the fantastic opportunities in this sector - for school leavers and others further into their careers, for those outside and within the industry. This is a great start. We then need to remove barriers to development and progression. This comes from great leadership. And recognition. Hence why I'm so excited that here at Wilson Brook Consulting we're supporting the BMF & Builders' Merchants News next Top 100 event - the Top 100 Young Achievers - those who are rising through the industry and making their mark on the sector. Nominations will be made via an online form, hosted on the BMN website, with links from the BMF website. Nominees can be self-nominated or nominated by another person from the business. They must be 40 or under on 16 May 2024 (rules me out then!) from across the building materials industry; this can be a merchant, supplier, service supplier or from a buying group. The Top 100 Young Achievers will be celebrated at a black-tie gala dinner on the 16 May 2024, at The Belfry, Sutton Coldfield. We'll be sponsoring the drinks reception and taking a table at the event. Get your nominations in!#futuretalent #celebratesuccess
